Here are a couple of cuties done for Austin and Matt over at the revived The Modern Spectator.
It’s here! Cornell’s Caption Contest. Head over and do your best!
I was commissioned by Cornell University to illustrate a video celebrating the 150th birthday of the Morrill Land Grant Act. We shot time-lapse footage of the drawing which was used to accompany the interviews and still-photography. The video, by Micah Cormier, was a smash hit when it helped launch Cornell’s Trustee-Council Annual Meeting this year. (Check out the video below!)
At the end of summer I did some hand-lettering for Hanger One vodka, and a few spots have been showing up. Here’s one from the New Yorker’s November 1st issue. Thanks to Mikal and Jeff at DWKI.
Inspired by Neil Young. A big thanks to Christa Wolf at The Ink Shop for help with this color etching. I had a wonderful time over there on Tuesdays last month. This print was made with two plates: the first (above) is a soft-ground plate scuffed through a contact print from the second, hard-ground, line plate. Below you can see both plates together. I printed these at the same time. I inked both plates, ran the first one through, and keeping one edge of the paper pinched in the press I swapped in the second plate and ran the second. I’d love to do more soon. It’s called Powderfinger.
